If you’ve been reading this blog with any regularity you’ll know that I love a good bargain. Who doesn’t enjoy getting a great discount on purchases? I am very careful with my spending and always conscious of my budget. That is why I make sure to snag a good deal whenever I can and this includes bargains on travel.

There are many sites one can look at which compare flight costs by airline. Those sites are plentiful and most Internet savvy individuals know of a few to help book their travel. A good flight fare comparison is always an option to finding a better price on a flight but getting the best deal is what I’m after.

I have mentioned Consumer World before. On their site, under the “Bargains” section you will find: “Discount travel.” They have a number of great sites listed here, which can help you find a good deal.

One of my favorite links under “Discount travel” is Airfare Watchdog. Airfare Watchdog sends you email alerts on price drops and deals on airfare. This saves you the trouble of searching the web and visiting all the various airline websites to know what specials are offered at any given time.

When you register you can list your preferred airports and you will only be alerted on deals from those airports, so the list is specialized for you!  No need to scour lists to find sales. Airfare Watchdog sends out comprehensive weekly emails, which lists about 7+ pages of deals from the airports in my area.

The emails list and link domestic and international airfare bargains. They also list all restrictions on the fare so there in no guessing as to what days you can travel, if there is a minimum stay and if taxes are included.

The latest email I received dated September 2, 2009 from Airfare Watchdog included all the best deals from my registered favorite airports in the Washington D.C. area. Below are a few examples from the email. If you’re looking to save money on flights or are planning a trip soon I suggest you sign up with Airfare Watchdog to snag the best deal out there.
